There were a number of others that highlighted the virtues of freedom, security and basic rights, and none of these other slogans included the word fraternité. And it was not the only slogan used during or after the French Revolution. In response to its inclusion, journalist Olympe de Gouges wrote the Declaration of the Rights of Woman and of the Female Citizen as a response.
